Hakizetu has designed an Economic Empowerment for Young Women and Girls Survivors of Gender-Based Violence initiative was designed to enhance the economic well-being of vulnerable women and girls, providing them with financial independence and enabling them to make choices free from economic hardship. This initiative also tackles unemployment and economic marginalization, particularly for those affected by child marriage, teenage pregnancy, child labor, and HIV/AIDS.
Through a focus on marketable skills, entrepreneurship development, and resource access, the Initiative offers vocational training, apprenticeships, productivity and employability skills. The initiative also supported small enterprise growth through entrepreneurship training, micro-loans, seed funding, and business incubation services like one-on-one mentorship, market linkages, and career guidance. Also, Hakizetu provided digital literacy training to small entrepreneurs, helping them integrate digital tools to enhance their businesses, all while maintaining a strong gender-focused support system.
Under our model, for every $1 invested, we expect an average return of $7 within the first two years after graduation. Progress is tracked monthly and quarterly, with Hakizetu monitoring the progress of at least 30-40% of the total beneficiaries.
