Donald Kasongi
Donald Malambo Kasongi (Ph.D)
Donald Malambo Kasongi is the Executive Director of Governance Links, a Tanzania-based think tank specializing in research, policy analysis, and organizational capacity strengthening. He is an experienced researcher and policy analyst with a strong academic and professional background in governance and water diplomacy.
Donald holds a Ph.D. in Water Governance and Diplomacy from the University of Latin America, a Master of Arts in Governance and Social Policy Analysis from the Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands, and a Bachelor of Science in General Science from the University of Dar es Salaam. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Municipal Governance and a Diploma in Complex Political Emergencies.
In addition to his leadership at Governance Links, Donald serves as a Transboundary Water Policy Analyst at the Nile Basin Discourse. With over two decades of experience in civil society, he has played a significant role in strengthening institutions and advancing policy dialogue across Tanzania and beyond.
Donald currently chairs several civil society Boards of Directors, including the Young Domestic Workers Organization (WOTESAWA), Tanzania Trade and Investment Coalition (TATIC), the Tanzania Nile Discourse Forum, and Water for Good. He also serves as a member of the international board of Water for Good.
He is a member of the Male Champions for Women’s Empowerment initiative under the World Bank’s Cooperation in International Waters in Africa (CIWA).
His current research focuses on the intersection of climate change and rural development, with particular interest in governance systems that enhance resilience and sustainable livelihoods
