Recognizing the pivotal role of men and boys in the transformation journey, Hakizetu actively engages them in the Piga Chenga initiative. By involving them as active participants and advocates, we accelerate the opportunity for them to support their partners and daughters in accessing SRHR services and information. It’s not just about women and girls; it’s about transforming mindsets and fostering collective responsibility.
In our unwavering commitment to empower young women and girls, Hakizetu launches a groundbreaking initiative to enhance the accessibility of quality and safe Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services and information. Through targeted interventions, we strive to equip individuals and communities with vital SRHR skills, enabling informed decision-making on issues related to sex and sexuality.

At the heart of our efforts is the renowned “Piga Chenga Siyo Mkeo” (Kick a Ball not your wife) campaign—a sports bonanza extravaganza that transcends beyond the field. This initiative, featuring football and jogging, serves as a powerful platform to unite community members, providing them with accurate information on SRHR. With a massive turnout of over 16,000 individuals, it stands as the largest community-based gathering in the Lake Zone regions of Tanzania. Not just an event, but a transformative experience, we leverage this platform to offer essential services such as family planning, HIV testing and counseling.
Hakizetu’s impact extends deep into communities through our Community Volunteer Facilitators—well-trained individuals who facilitate small and large group conversations on SRHR and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention. These facilitators employ diverse approaches, from video sessions and dramas to traditional dances (Ngoma) and storytelling, creating a vibrant tapestry of information dissemination. Their dedication extends from the family level to the ward level, ensuring no corner of the community is untouched by empowerment.
To further our commitment to inclusivity, Hakizetu introduces a toll-free hub and counseling central. Survivors and those in need of additional services can call without any charges, accessing crucial psychological support and linkages to service providers for comprehensive services and information. Hakizetu leaves no one behind, championing a future where every individual has the knowledge and support they need to make informed choices.
Hakizetu is a non-governmental organization committed to fostering comprehensive transformation in the lives of young women and youth in Tanzania
